3D model printing
Custom 3D printed bone models are useful for complex orthopedic procedures. Our bone models are delivered in a set of two copies (minimum recommended), allowing the clinician to plan and
rehearse the surgery. Surgical rehearsal has utility in identifying anatomical landmarks and prepares the surgeon to meet these challenges. Implant selection and contouring may also be performed using the models, facilitating a more efficient surgery.
- Using 3d printed bone model during surgery allows surgeon to identify surgical landmarks to improve their surgical precision
- Bone models are printed using a fused deposition modeler (FDM) printer. The material is a micro carbon filled nylon which results in a strong, smooth finish that is easily cut by surgical saws.
- Models are made through detailed segmentation of bone from CT and MRI DICOM images.
- Sterilization options include steam autoclave and ethylene oxide gas (preferred).
- Cartesian Medical also offers models of normal bones for reference in surgery or teaching.
